Cookies policy

Reviewed 5 October 2026.

1. What cookies do

Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Valore uses them to remember a choice and understand broad site performance. They do not tell us your name by themselves. You can remove them through browser settings.

2. Essential operation

The cookieChoice preference records whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies. It lasts for up to 12 months. Without it, the banner may appear again. Essential operation is based on our legitimate interest in providing a usable site.

3. Analytics

Optional analytics cookies may be used only after consent and may last up to 13 months. They help us understand page visits in aggregate. We do not use them to make medical or eligibility decisions. Rejecting them does not prevent reading.

4. Your choices

Use Accept or Reject in the banner, or adjust browser controls. You can withdraw consent by deleting site data. A withdrawn choice does not affect information already lawfully used. We record consent for up to 24 months.

5. Third parties

Hosting and measurement providers may process limited technical data. Providers are assessed for security and instructed to follow applicable UK data protection rules. We do not sell cookie identifiers. See the privacy policy for wider detail.

6. International processing

Some providers may process data outside the UK. We use adequacy decisions or contractual safeguards where required. Transfers are reviewed during supplier checks. Contact us for a general description of safeguards.

7. Browser signals

We do not currently respond to every automated browser preference signal. Our banner gives a direct choice. We will review this approach as standards develop. Your statutory rights remain unchanged.

8. Retention

Preference data is kept for 12 months, analytics data for up to 13 months and security logs for 30 days. Aggregated reports may remain without direct identifiers. We delete or anonymise data after the relevant period.

9. Contact

Questions can be sent to 14 Willow Creek Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, B75 7FH, UK, or 0161 496 0285. We aim to respond within one month. You can complain to the ICO.

10. Changes

This policy was updated on 5 October 2026 and replaces the 12 March 2026 version. Material changes will receive a new date. The current version is always available from the footer.

The site may use a short-lived session identifier while a page request is being completed, but it is not used to identify a reader by name. The consent record is stored locally so the cookie notice does not appear on every visit. A typical preference cookie may be named cookieChoice, use a value such as accepted or rejected, and expire after 12 months. Changing browser, clearing site data or using private browsing can cause the notice to appear again.

Where enabled, aggregate measurement may use a first-party analytics cookie such as _valore_analytics with a lifespan of up to 13 months. It may record a pseudonymous identifier, page path, approximate visit time and broad device information. It is not used to infer a medical condition, create a health profile or make an eligibility decision. We review analytics reports in aggregate and retain related reports for up to 24 months.

Essential cookies do not require consent where they are strictly necessary to provide a function requested by the reader. Optional analytics and preference technologies are disabled until a reader makes a choice. A reader can withdraw consent through the banner, by clearing site data or by contacting Valore. Withdrawal affects future use and does not undo processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.

Hosting, security and measurement providers may receive technical cookie information when they deliver their contracted service. They are expected to use appropriate safeguards and to act only on documented instructions. Some suppliers may operate internationally; applicable transfer safeguards are described in the privacy policy. Valore does not sell cookie identifiers or permit them to be used for unrelated advertising profiles.

Browser controls differ, so the exact steps depend on whether you use Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge or a mobile browser. Blocking all cookies may affect the remembered consent choice, but the editorial pages remain available. If a reader uses more than one browser or device, a choice may need to be made separately. The cookie inventory is reviewed when site functionality or suppliers change.

Revision record: reviewed 5 October 2026, following the previous review on 12 March 2026. Questions about cookies can be sent to 14 Willow Creek Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, B75 7FH, UK or 0161 496 0285. We normally acknowledge a privacy or cookie query within five working days.

A short-lived session identifier may exist while a page request or preference action is completed, but it is not intended to identify a reader by name. The consent record may be stored locally so that the cookie notice does not appear on every visit. A preference cookie may be named cookieChoice, contain an accepted or rejected value, and expire after 12 months. Clearing site data, changing browser or using private browsing can cause the notice to appear again.

Where enabled, an aggregate measurement cookie such as _valore_analytics may have a lifespan of up to 13 months. It can record a pseudonymous identifier, page path, approximate visit time and broad device information. Reports are used to understand navigation and page performance rather than to infer a medical condition or make an eligibility decision. Analytics reports may be retained for up to 24 months before deletion or aggregation.

Essential cookies are used only where they are necessary for a function requested by the reader or for secure site operation. Optional analytics and preference technologies remain disabled until consent is recorded. Consent can be withdrawn through the banner, by clearing site data or by contacting Valore. Withdrawal changes future processing and does not undo processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.

Hosting, security and measurement providers may receive limited technical information when delivering their contracted service. They are assessed for security and instructed to act only for the defined purpose. Some providers may operate internationally, in which case the privacy policy describes the applicable transfer safeguard. Valore does not sell cookie identifiers or permit unrelated advertising profiles to be built from the site’s reader activity.

Browser controls differ between Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge and mobile browsers, so the exact steps should be checked in the relevant help menu. Blocking all cookies may prevent the consent choice from being remembered, but the editorial pages should remain available. A reader using several devices may need to make a separate choice on each device. The inventory is reviewed when site functions, suppliers or retention settings change.

Revision record: reviewed 5 October 2026 after the previous review on 12 March 2026. A further review is planned for 5 October 2027 or sooner following a material change. Cookie questions can be sent to 14 Willow Creek Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, B75 7FH, UK or 0161 496 0285, and are normally acknowledged within five working days.
